Sous Chef - New Rockfish Restaurant Opening

Due to Rockfish’s exciting growth plans we are delighted to be opening our newest restaurant in the beautiful coastal town of Salcombe, Devon in July 2024. Voted one of the best companies to work in the Southwest we have an exciting opportunity to join our award-winning business as opening Sous Chef. 

You will get to work with world class sustainable seafood, MSC certified or caught and managed in the Southwest of England. You will be confident and outgoing General Manager, who enjoys managing and developing a people and who loves creating engaging and dynamic guest experiences and have a natural flair for people and true hospitality and have demonstrable experience in managing restaurants, with the all-round ability required to lead the success of this exciting new restaurant by the sea. With a number of planned restaurant openings, this is a great opportunity to move your career to the next level and grow with us. Our management training program is second to none and you will get to work with the best produce and the best people in our industry.

-         Rockfish are offering this role a discretionary ‘’Salcombe Commute Allowance’’ of an additional £5,000 per year, paid monthly to support and make things a little easier 

-         Winter Weekends, our team will be scheduled to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the winter to allow some down time (full salary paid)

-         Paid overtime (not that overtime is encouraged but we understand there are times when it does happen)

The Role

You will be a role model and strong leader to your team of chefs, supporting and mentoring their training and development and leading the way on all our Rockfish values. Your attention to detail will be second to none, ensuring the food prepared is of a consistent and high quality, delivering an exceptional guest experience. You will manage fish respectively to minimise waste, control costs and ensure all food safety regulations are met. You will build a strong relationship with our front of house teams to collectively deliver exceptional levels of service to all our guests. Before starting in your new restaurant, we will get you up and running with an induction and training programme which includes onsite training at our training restaurant in Weymouth, Brixham fish market tour, extensive training plan and in-kitchen experience with our inspirational top chefs so you can hit the ground running. 

You will be required to have previous experience at Sous Chef level and able to drive to the Salcombe location.
