The Pastry Cook is the person behind our amazing desserts. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating exemplary pastries, a pro-active and "can do" attitude. We are seeking an individual with a welcoming and warm personality that is able to engage and connect easily with others. Job responsibilities:
• Responsible for preparing baked goods
• Ability to follow recipes and/or product directions for preparing items
• Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas
• Operate a variety of kitchen equipment
• Measure, mix, wash, peel, cut and shred food items
• Stock, date, rotate and check temperature of product
• Responsible for presentation of baked goods
• Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned
The ideal candidate will have the following qualities/skills:
• Must have an understanding of how to use email as an effective means of communication.
• A culinary degree with a concentration in pastry
• Minimum one year experience
• Must be able to effectively communicate information orally and in writing
• Must be able to handle sharp knives, utensils and ovens in a safe manner
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• High level of resourcefulness and initiative, be a results oriented individual
• Have strong, positive interpersonal skills as well as excellent communication skills
• Proactive and resourceful in solving problems, detail oriented and energetic
• Must have valid food handler's certification
Hours: Typically from 7:00-3:30 but can vary, must be able to work weekends
Abilities include:
• Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
• Some bending/kneeling/stooping required
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to work in a hot environment
