- OPENING THIS SUMMER (August - September 2018)

Chef and the Butcher is a new kind of restaurant combined with a specialty butcher shop and small gourmet grocery aspect. We’re looking to add an experienced butcher to our talented team of French trained chefs, cooks, managers, and meat lovers. An innovative menu, specializing in Texas style barbecue, local sustainable high-quality meat and produce, and superior service.
Chef and the Butcher is seeking an experienced butcher to manage our high-quality artisan butcher shop, run the day-to day operations, and be the point of contact for our customers and vendors. The shop will be known for its quality, locality, and cleanliness. The hire will be encouraged to contribute to the development of Chef and the Butcher’s identity based on past experiences and skill. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced butcher to take on more responsibility and input their own style in a way that caters to customers needs and helps create a superior brand in the bay area community. Primary objectives for the butcher shop are satisfying, retaining, and educating customers every day. The head butcher position is full-time, salaried with benefits including health and dental, and comes with opportunity to own investment shares within the company.


Head butcher responsibilities:

• Strong People Skills/Educate Customers
• Manage Meat Inventory/Place Orders as Needed
• Stock Meat Counter/Quality Control
• Extensive Retail Knowledge
• Manage 1 or 2 Employees, Train Entry Level Butchers and Clerks
• Create Scheduling and Structure of Butcher Shop/Employees
• Collaborate with Chefs for Private Parties and to Minimize Waste
• Supervise Retail/Grocery Merchandising, Ordering, Stocking
• Customer Satisfaction, Educate Customers, Retain Customers
• Comply with ServSafe/Health Guidelines


Qualifications:

• 4+ Years in retail meat cutting
• Attention to detail, Organization
• Experience butchering a variety of animals
• Experience with POS system
• Customer Relationship Management Skills
• Knowledge Purchasing, Scheduling and Inventory
• Precise and Flawless Cutting/Knife Skills
• Ability to Thrive in a Fast-Paced Environment
