Kitchen Manager, Bankers, Brighton

Full Time 

Competitive Salary of up to £40,000; all depending on experience

Kitchen Managers are the ship’s captains of our business. You will be responsible for leading and managing a happy and productive crew and will be responsible for living our S.A.V.E values every day to ensure our customers receive the best quality sustainably sourced fish and chips in the UK.

To achieve that, you will receive all the training and support you need to thrive in your food career through our industry leading procedures and how to guides.

You will be your store’s customer champion, coaching and mentoring your team to ensure that your colleagues deliver customer service that goes above and beyond our customers’ expectations.


You will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items, positive team management and appraisals, crew meetings, stock, expenditure, rotas, training, health and safety, banking, security and hygiene. You will work closely with the Operations Manager to maximise store turnover and profitability in an ethical manner.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly experienced Kitchen Manager / Head Chef to join our well known family run business. We will be cooking and serving our well known dishes, but we want more! We are looking for an individual whom can bring fresh new ideas to our menus; cook daily specials using fresh ingredients.

Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver an exceptional level of customer service
- To prepare and cook all menu items in line with demand and to a high standard
- Implement and create special dishes
- Leadership - great communication and role modelling to develop a high performing team.
- Have Fun! Make your store a great place to be by creating a culture for equal opportunities for ALL of our colleagues to thrive!
- Promote high standards of Food Hygiene
- Ensure Health and Safety standards are met at all times by ensuring your team following the companies policies and procedures to safe guard the wellbeing of our teams, customers and contractors.
- Drive Store performance to ensure key targets and budgets are achieved
- Work closely with your Operations Manager to maximize the turnover and profitability of the business in an ethical and rewarding manner.

At Bankers, our journey began way back in the early 1920s when Great Grandpa Harold, and wife Dorothy painstakingly saved all the money he earned from mining and playing amateur cricket for Accrington and moved from the north to Essex to buy their first ever fish and chip shop in in Romford, in 1923. Three generations of our family later, it’s safe to say we’re fish and chip super geeks through and through!

We believe that nothing makes memories like fish and chips. It connects us to each other in such a special way, bringing to life moments from our childhood and beyond. We think that the buying and eating of fish and chips should be a family affair, but we don’t think this should be at the expense of the environment, people and communities.

The health of the oceans and future fish stocks is very important to us as we can only thrive as a business if the seas and oceans and fish within them continue to thrive. That is why we only source fish from sustainable fishing sources and our fresh Red Tractor Approved Shropshire Chickens are barn reared. We also recycle our waste oil into Bio Diesel and our packaging is made of recycled material and or biodegradable.
