Description
FULL TIME CATERING SALES OPPORTUNITY AT PREMIERE PRIVATE COUNTRY CLUB Hillcrest Country Club is looking for a party planner with 5+ years of experience in catering sales. The Catering Manager (CM) will be a skilled team player and effective communicator, able to multi-task effectively in a fast paced, high-volume environment. He/she will play an important leadership role in the Hillcrest Private Events Department by supporting the Catering Director as the second in command. The CM will assist members in planning special catered functions that meet their needs, maintaining the highest standards of quality, professionalism and prestige for all events. He/she will establish and maintain positive and professional business relationships with members, vendors and coworkers, effectively solving problems and handling complaints when necessary. A strong administrator, the CM will ensure that standard operating procedures are consistently followed, including obtaining and completing all required paperwork and maintaining accurate records. The CM will possess the ability to serve as a mentor, helping to ensure the team is delivering the HCC service standards and that member satisfaction is achieved.
• Meet with members and organizing committees as directed, to plan and prepare their banquets, luncheons, meetings, and other social events. Determine objectives, and work with them to meet their budget. Monitor budgets and event progress, and ensure all administrative procedures are followed.
• Employ creativity in designing events. Create menu proposals and offer suggestions and ideas for audio equipment, lighting, choice of florists, photographers, linen suppliers, party planners, bands, DJ’s and/or other type of entertainment appropriate to the event.
• Coordinate with the Executive Chef on menus, special requests and pricing; with Housekeeping on the ordering of linens; size, color, etc. and with Engineering on audio equipment, lights, tents and set-up.
• Evaluate, select and coordinate with providers of catering support services such as flowers, entertainment, decorations, etc. to meet member requirements. Obtain timely signed contracts and certificates of insurance and inform vendors about Club policies and procedures.
• Coordinate and confer with the Banquet Manager and Special Events Logistics Coordinator to ensure the event location matches the specifications listed on the BEO, and with the Chef on the chosen menu, making sure all preparations are arranged and completed. Inspect event areas to ensure that they conform to member requirements.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
1. AA degree in an associated field and/or a minimum of 5 years of Event/Catering Management experience
2. Previous experience in a similar luxury environment
3. Warm and friendly personality with enthusiasm and passion for the hospitality industry
4. A service-first mindset and 5-star attitude
5. Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services including marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration and sales techniques
6. Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
7. Able to communicate effectively and professionally in writing and verbally with all stakeholders, keeping supervisors, co-workers and subordinates informed as applicable
8. Organized and proactive with strong administrative skills; able to effectively manage and organize information and physical objects
9. Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, internet research, form design; able to learn new computer systems quickly and easily
10. A strong work ethic, able to work well under pressure and manage difficult situations and personalities
11. Able to balance team and individual responsibilities; exhibit objectivity and openness to other’s opinions; give and receive feedback and constructive criticism
12. Strong track record of maintaining confidentiality and the ability to refrain from offering unnecessary information about members, guests and club’s internal operations.
