POSITION TITLE: BARBACK/ BUSSER

DEPARTMENT: PRC/ Food and Beverage

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To assist the bar and server teams with product preparation and service, cleanliness of the environment, and equipment handling and maintenance in contribution a positive guest experience.

While the quality of our menu is important, it is only of value when framed by great – and occasionally unconventional – service. What is unconventional? Unconventional is working beyond the script and taking advantage of opportunities to surprise the guest. Our Circus attracts an audience who add to that unconventional air, they range from oddities enthusiasts to exhibitionists to minstrels. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

The Barback/ Busser is the acrobat of our team. It takes balance, agility, and coordination to assist both the bar and server teams, stock product, and clean the work area. The routine of an average shift includes contribution to bar operations by anticipating service needs, maintaining equipment and keeping all tools clean and stocked. This, plus, assisting the dining service operations, delivering food, setting and clearing tables. A successful Barback/ Busser does all of this without getting in the way in a very busy & tight work space. They handle dirty work and heavy lifting in addition to interacting with our guests to support our goal of outstanding team service.

Strong shoulders, cat-like reflexes and a sense of humor help a Barback/Busser through a demanding shift.

• Promptly and courteously greet all guests. Provide answers and direct traffic as needed.
• Assist Bartenders and Servers in all aspects of the bar and dining experiences, adding a calm and courteous energy to the team.
• Assist in bar setup, opening, and closing; stocking and maintaining the bar stations to par.
• Ensure the cleanliness of the bar environment and contribute to the cleanliness of all dining areas; clearing standing water, debris or any objects that can obstruct the job duties from being performed safety, efficiently and effectively.
• Maintain clean glassware as needed.
• Maintain familiarity with all menus, garnishes and products sold in the bar.
• Ensure all supplies and tools are stocked in all service stations. Immediately alert the MOD to low stock.
• Maintain all health and alcohol service standards. Alert a manager immediately to any concerns with guests.
• Follow all guidelines in the Employee Handbook, including but not limited to safety guidelines, hospitality expectations, grooming standards and attendance expectations.
• Proactively communicate with peers and management; alert to problems, help with solutions.
• Other duties to support F&B service as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or Experience--
• Prior experience and guest relations training required.

Communication Skills—
• Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively, diplomatically and professionally with other departments, guests, and vendors in English.
• Knowledge of other languages is a plus.

Physical Ability—
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, push, pull, stand, walk, and talk or hear.
• The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or telephone.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Other—
• Must be able to work weekends/holidays.
• Must have CA Food handling certificate.
• Must have a valid TIPS certification.
