Position: Engineer Manager
Department/Outlet: Heart of House

The Engineer Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Engineer in maintaining the entire hotel facility, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electric, HVAS and life safety systems as well as all related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs. Ensure the upkeep of guest areas, guest rooms and public space including event space, indoor and outdoor spaces to maintain an attractive, efficient, well-running property in compliance with all state and local requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in assessing the needs for the building, develop and execute short and long-term strategies for successful property management for the hotel.
- Ensure that all safety systems are operable, and follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company
- Maintain accurate record keeping of all assigned tasks by verifying completion of all routine maintenance of repairs, replacement, and renovation projects, from offices and team member work areas to public spaces, event rooms, ballrooms, venues, back of the house spaces, and grounds.
- Report, conduct, and/or supervise necessary repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel and conduct any preventive upkeep.
- Support the Director of Engineer in selecting, training, supervising, and holding department staff accountable
- Adhere to all PUBLIC purchasing policies and controls, including, but not limited to, all outside contractor bids, budgets, schedules, and PUBLIC rules, regulations, and standards for a safe and effective operation of the hotel
- May be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
- Help the Director of Engineer in technical data, bidding, project work, alterations, and repairs for property.
- Must have basic knowledge of building codes.
- Actively train in fire prevention, environmental health and safety, and engineering systems. Attend all meetings regarding hotel operations, i.e., department, fire, safety, health and quality improvement.
- Support the Director of Engineer in overseeing the department’s payroll and schedules
- Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10ºF) and boiler rooms (+110°F), and fluctuating temperatures in outdoor spaces, possibly for one hour or more.

Physical and other requirements:
- Must be able to sit at a desk for up to (5) hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
- Subject to noise and hazards: includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
- Subject to atmospheric conditions: one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
- Subject to oils: there is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
- Machine operators: (without inspection), Mechanics, skilled trades people. Works with lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach. Also, mechanics and skilled tradespeople and those who do work of a non-repetitive in nature such as carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis, 50 lbs. frequently, and 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity, and manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

Skills:
- Attentive, accountable and highly organized with the ability to manage and lead multiple projects, priorities, routine upkeep/maintenance and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and phone skills. Customer service oriented, proactive, and maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.

Qualifications:
- Five to seven years of experience as an Engineer Manager in a multi-use hotel environment including but not limited to function space, restaurants, condominiums and outdoor space.
- Must possess, or have the ability and experience to acquire, an operating engineer's license in boilers and air conditioning as required.
- Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and hotel systems.
