Insight Manager - Fixed Term


Description
As one of the largest operators of managed restaurants and pubs in the UK, Mitchell’s & Butlers provides a wide choice of eating and drinking-out experiences through its well-known brands, with household names such as Toby Carvery, All Bar One, Ember Inns, Miller & Carter, Harvester and many more.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Insight Manager to cover a 12-month period of maternity. As an expert in consumer research and data, the Insight Manager will work closely with senior stakeholders objective consumer focused decision making by proactively identifying insight gaps and initiating, designing and interpreting research projects to provide accurate and actionable insights.

A key part of the role will be to act as an internal business consultant and challenge the status quo so it is essential to have a deep understanding of relevant macro trends and demonstrate strong strategic and commercial acumen.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivering the 2018 Insight Plan in conjunction with the other M&B Insight Manager
Proactively working with senior stakeholders to identify commercially critical insight gaps and research projects
Providing 360⁰ Insight Packs for brands to support the annual brand planning process
Providing macro insight and consumer research to support brand activations, NCD/NPD ideation and pilots
Setting up and delivering insight training for internal teams
Pulling together speculative proposals and presenting them to senior stakeholders to secure funding
Managing relationships (incl. briefing and negotiations) with secondary data suppliers, full service agencies and fieldwork only agencies
Analysing and shaping data and research outputs into commercially astute, accurate and actionable insights
Creating and co-ordinating in-house qualitative and quantitative surveys
Undertaking in-house focus groups and ethnographic research
Writing insight summaries and papers to support business cases
Managing relevant budgets

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential: Educated to degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant discipline
Preferred: CIM, MA or MBA
Min 5 years’ experience in an Associate Director or senior Insight Manager role
Experience of qualitative & quantitative research techniques and projects essential
Experience of fieldwork only and full service primary research projects is essential
Experience of working in or with large complex companies with multiple brands and stakeholders is essential
Ideally experience of working in or with clients from the hospitality and retail sectors
Ideally a mix of agency and client-side experience
Ideally has brand, category, NPD or NCD ‘activation’ experience
Ideally has experience of using Acorn and TGI to define target audiences
